** Help Needed **

Team members urgently needed!

As usual, our Carnival is at risk as we always struggle for volunteers - why not HELP and keep our Carnival going year after year. An offer of even 1 hour would be most useful on the day. Please contact us via email or just turn up at the next meeting.

About Brinsley Carnival

For 50 years Brinsley Carnival in its current form has offered a fabulous day’s entertainment for families from the village and surrounding areas.

But it has also done much more – it has given literally thousands of pounds to local worthwhile causes. It is a true community event – organised by the community, for the community. For some local organisations it provides their annual opportunity to raise awareness about their activities and to provide a welcome boost to their funds.

The recipients of donations from Carnival proceeds are all either Brinsley based, or offer their services and membership to Brinsley residents. At our recent presentation evening cheques were presented to local groups who applied for funds;

Brinsley Carnival Presentations

It is easy to understand why visitors from other areas have been envious of Brinsley’s Carnival. On Carnival Day the village is alive with activity, there’s a real buzz of anticipation as everyone makes last minutes adjustments to their fancy dress costumes or their float for the Grand Parade.

People line the streets to watch the Carnival Queen and her regal attendants as they parade through the village escorted by a marching band, fabulously decorated floats and other groups.

And of course up on the Carnival Field - usually known as the village recreation ground – the fun has already started with a whole host of activities to enjoy.

It may be a single day of fun but it takes the small team of volunteers who stage the event almost a whole year to plan, organise and promote the Carnival. Like many voluntary organisations today, a little more help would be much appreciated. If you are interested in helping to keep alive this special part of Brinsley’s heritage please register your interest with our webmaster on this site.

That’s the end of the commercial! What you need to do now is focus of having a grand day out at Brinsley Carnival. If you can’t remember the date of June 20th, just remember it is also Father’s Day. The Carnival Team is putting together a programme of entertainment which should bring a smile to everyone’s face and hopefully enable charitable groups to continue their fund raising efforts.

Welcome to Brinsley Carnival.
