Hi All,
Hard to imagine now I know, but this year’s Carnival was a scorcher!! Thanks to all of you who turned out to make it the success it was and as usual a good time seemed to be had by all despite the exceptionally hot weather.
HELP WANTED !!!
That was the good news however, because if we are to have an equally successful Carnival this year we desperately need your input. For the last few years we have been pleading for help with the organisation of this event as the Carnival Committee is slowly becoming a Carnival duo!!! Natural progression of the original members means that year after year we lose vital input and support with no new members coming in to take their place. This will inevitably mean that we simply won’t have the resources to continue organising what has always been a great Brinsley tradition and this year we were the closest ever to saying – No More. However, because we are positive that no one wants to see this amazing day fade from Brinsley’s heritage we are looking positively towards a Carnival in 2006 – so come on Brinsley – help us!!!! You don’t have to join the committee - just come along and give us your ideas, those of you with computers – check out the website on www.brinsleycarnival.co.uk or e mail your suggestions to rita.tate@ntlworld.com . The only negative feedback we received on the day was the lack of floats – “where were they all?” We asked the same question ourselves – so come on, let’s have some floats entered for 2006. As an incentive, local business man Jack O’ Neill has offered a substantial amount of prize money for the winning float and believe me it IS substantial. Further details will be released later and will be found on the entry forms, which are available on request. You can’t say you haven’t had enough notice so get together with friends and neighbours and get your thinking caps on.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Okay, enough of the nagging, let’s get to the start of the fundraising for this year and talk about the switching on of the Christmas Lights which will happen on Saturday 26th November, - fashionably late if you consider we’ve been able to buy Christmas presents in the shops since about July!!! Santa will be there in his sleigh and we will be having a stall in the Parish Hall for a bumper raffle with millions of fabulously amazing prizes (erm – donations of fabulous prizes would be gratefully received or we now look pretty stupid!). We have no objection to picking up your unwanted birthday presents etc if you either e mail or call the contact number at the end of this newsletter.
Finally, for now, this year’s Santa run is on Sunday 11th December and Sunday 18th December and we are including the routes so you don’t miss out your chance to get your requests in.
